In 2024, FTHF will establish a robust Climate Resiliency Fund in alignment with its borrowers, partners and funders. FTHF will establish a “climate lens” that examines how each loan or grant made may incorporate cleaner energy and water and a reduction of greenhouse gasses. FTHF will, together with its borrowers, learn and educate about energy efficiencies and savings, zero-emissions transportation, electrification of kitchen and farm equipment, and remediation of soil and water through traditional practices. The majority of this climate mitigation work will be done in low-income disadvantaged communities in California and Hawaii and align with key investor and partner strategies and goals, while continuing to focus on FTHF’s core competencies and community value proposition in food and agricultural sustainability.
